Dr. Ebtisam Al Alawi Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at the Ophthalmology Department - Salmaniya Medical Center since 1992
She is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeon of Edinburgh(FRCS Ed),Royal college of surgeon Of Glasgow (FRCS, Glas) and Member of Royal college of Ophthalmologists(MRCOphth)with a Diploma of the Royal college of surgeon of Ireland(DO)
Membership of American academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeon and European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and African and Middle East Council of Ophthalmology
She has extensive experience in phacoemulsification small incision cataract microsurgery with folding intraocular lenses, as well as Excimer laser refractive surgery, Keratoplasty ,Glaucoma procedures, She also has a special interest in Squint Surgery and all paediatric ocular Surgeries.
Graduated from Cairo Medical university, She is a consultant since 1992 had extensive training in united kingdom worked at West of England Eye Infirmary – Exeter and Birmingham Children Hospital , attended Extensive training courses and surgical skills workshop in United State, United Kingdom and Germany, had several publication and many presentation in many local and international conferences.
She is the national coordinator for prevention of blindness and Co chair for National committee for prevention of blindness, In charge head of many prevention of blindness programs in Bahrain. Member of Children Eye care committee of international agency for prevention of blindness
Head of Examination committee of Arab board of ophthalmology and coordinate of international council of ophthalmology assessment exams in Bahrain.
Was the chairperson of ophthalmology department in 2000 and deputy chief of medical staff at Salmaniya Medical Council 2005.
